From July 31 to August 2, 2019, Impact Santé Afrique (ISA), with the support of technical partners (Global Fund and consultant Matthew Greenall), organized a training workshop in Ivory Coast on health financing for Francophone African Civil Society Organizations to improve domestic funding advocacy targeting national leaders in their respective countries.
The purpose of the workshop was to enhance the capacity of CSOs on the basics components of health financing to achieve the goal of increasing domestic resources for health as well as the broader objectives of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The training was essentially articulated on two points:
- Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM);
- A deeper understanding of health financing and UHC.
The needs of CSOs in this area were assessed, explanations were provided on country budgets development, domestic budgets sources of funding; presentations were made to improve knowledge, and group work sessions were conducted to increase understanding. The workshop was highly participative, thanks to the methodology of the consultant. At the end, participants received training certificates and committed to share their knowledge back in the country and other CSOs.
