This year for the 7th Replenishment of the Global Fund, it is critical to mobilize at least $18 billion to ensure continuing life-saving interventions affecting millions of people living with HIV/AIDS and affected by Malaria and Tuberculosis. To this end, Civil Society Organizations members of GFAN Africa, in collaboration with communities and other civil society networks, launched online on June 8th, 2022 a large-scale campaign called MEET THE TARGET and associating platforms such as GFAN Asia Pacific, CS4ME, Coalition Plus, ACT TB, TB People, TB Women, W4GF, and ALMA Youth Army.
To date, US$14.25 billion has been mobilized, which is a record for Global Fund resource mobilization. The campaign ran until September 2022 with the following objectives:
1. Ask world leaders to increase their contributions by at least 30% for the 7th Global Fund Replenishment Conference next September to reach at least $18 billion
2. Urge African countries to increase their national health budgets by 2% starting in 2021
3. Increase local civil society and community voices in the Global Fund 7th replenishment campaign

#MeetTheTarget: The Challenge
Raising our hands is something we do every day for a variety of reasons. This time, we have the opportunity to do it for a purpose: positively impact lives. A simple act to help save more than 20 million lives! Starting June 8, 2022, more than 500 people participated in the global #MeetTheTarget campaign to raise awareness and mobilize national and international leaders to commit to REACH THE TARGET for the Global Fund’s 7th Replenishment Conference in September 2022. To join us until we meet the Global Fund’s $18B target:
Write “$18B” on the palm of your hand
Ask someone to take your picture, or take a selfie and/or video of you with the filters of your choice, with your hand and eyes fixed on the lens
Share your picture or video on your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), adding the hashtags #MeetTheTarget #TheBeatContinues #PowerofMore #FightForWhatCounts #CloseTheGap

Why You Should Do It
1. It is critical to mobilize US$18 billion for the 7th replenishment of the Global Fund.
Since 2000, the Global Fund partnership has saved 44 million lives. This has been made possible by the mobilization of donor countries and the commitment to ensure a better life for vulnerable populations living with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Every three years, funds are mobilized in the name of international solidarity. This year, for the 7th replenishment of the Global Fund in September in the United States, it is essential to mobilize at least $18 billion to ensure the continuation of life-saving interventions for millions of people living with HIV/AIDS and affected by malaria and TB.
2. You will help impact and save an additional 20 million lives.
Your voice counts and social networks can be used for a good cause. Participate in this campaign because thanks to you, things can change. What could be more gratifying than knowing that thanks to you, lives will be saved and we will have a better world? So don’t hesitate!
