To ensure the success of Africa’s participation in the 6th Global Fund Replenishment Summit, it was necessary to raise the attention of Heads of State of the Great Continent.
Also, Impact Santé Afrique coordinated GFAN AFRICA/CS4ME campaign which Francophone African CSOs to send letters on September 19, 2019 to Africa’s Presidents, thanking them for their efforts to improve the health of their populations and requesting their effective presence at the 6th replenishment of the Global Fund to contribute to its success.
These letters were signed by 101 African CSOs and deposited in the Presidencies of the Republic of African countries, state institutions and parliaments.
This plea has had the desired effect. Indeed, CSOs in Cameroon had a special audience at the Presidency of the Republic and mentioned the stakes of Cameroon’s participation in the Global Fund conference to the Minister in charge of the Civil Cabinet.
From 1st to 3rd of October 2019, in 9 francophone African countries (Benin, Togo, Guinea, Niger, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Senegal) press conferences were organized with our support to remind African leaders that their contribution is essential to accelerate the fight against Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
