Context
Impact Santé Afrique (ISA) is an African non-profit association based in Cameroon. Its main mission is to contribute to improving the health of populations by implementing transformative and sustainable programs capable of saving lives and strengthening the health of our communities (www.impactsante.org). As part of its initiatives to strengthen the fight against malaria, ISA is seeking a Consultant: Health Advocacy and Policy Specialist, to lead and oversee its high-level advocacy programs.
1. Job description and main responsibilities:
As the Health Advocacy and Policy Specialist, incumbent will play a key role in designing and managing advocacy strategies that have an impact at the local and regional levels. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
- Developing and leading high-impact advocacy strategies tailored to the needs of communities in French-speaking Africa, ensuring their effective implementation and regular monitoring.
- Supervising advocacy activities to ensure their quality, relevance, and alignment with ISA’s strategic objectives.
- Developing and managing innovative advocacy and communication tools to promote ISA’s actions in the fight against malaria and for community health.
- Coordinating and leading local and international advocacy teams, ensuring their engagement, monitoring, and professional development.
- Support and develop strategic partnerships with local authorities, international organizations, decision-makers, and other stakeholders to optimize advocacy efforts.
- Mobilize and engage opinion leaders and high-level decision-makers in advocacy actions and awareness campaigns to strengthen the impact of health programs.
- Contribute to the evaluation and reporting of advocacy activities by supervising the production of regular activity reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual), in collaboration with the teams concerned.
- Manage media relations to support advocacy campaigns, ensuring the visibility of actions and disseminating the organization’s key messages.
- Monitor CSOs’ commitments and contributions to advocacy programs and campaigns for community health and fight against malaria.
2. Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Communication, Advocacy, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing high-impact advocacy programs, ideally in the field of public health, with specific experience in French-speaking Africa.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills in English and French, with a proven ability to produce professional documents of international standards.
- Be proficient in computer tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as online project management and collaboration tools.
- Have excellent leadership and teamwork skills to supervise and motivate multicultural teams, as well as excellent adaptability and flexibility.
- Be able to work under pressure, managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Possess strong partnership management skills and the ability to interact with high-level leaders and decision-makers to influence health policies and actions.
- Be flexible and able to work in a multicultural environment.
- Have a positive and dynamic attitude.
