Context
Impact Santé Afrique (ISA) is an African non-profit association based in Cameroon. Its main mission is to contribute to the improvement of people’s health by implementing transformative and sustainable programs that save lives and strengthen the health of our communities ( www.impactsante.org ). ISA also coordinates the CSO Global Platform for Malaria Elimination (CS4ME). As part of its initiatives to strengthen the fight against malaria, ISA is looking for a Consultant Advocacy Specialist to pilot and supervise its high-level advocacy programs.
Job description and main responsibilities:
As an Advocacy Specialist, you will play a key role in the design and management of advocacy strategies with local and regional impact. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, you will be responsible for:
- Develop and pilot high-impact advocacy strategies adapted to the needs of communities in French-speaking Africa, ensuring their effective implementation and regular monitoring.
- Oversee advocacy activities to ensure their quality, relevance and alignment with ISA’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and manage innovative advocacy and communication tools to promote ISA’s actions in the fight against malaria and for community health.
- Coordinate and lead local and international advocacy teams, ensuring their commitment, follow-up and professional development.
- Support and develop strategic partnerships with local authorities, international organizations, decision-makers and other stakeholders to optimize advocacy efforts.
- Mobilize and engage opinion leaders and high-level decision-makers in advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns, with a view to strengthening the impact of health programs.
- Contribute to the evaluation and reporting of advocacy activities by overseeing the production of regular activity reports (monthly, quarterly and annual), in collaboration with the relevant teams.
- Manage media relations to support advocacy campaigns, ensuring visibility of actions and disseminating the organization’s key messages.
- Monitor CSO commitments and contributions to advocacy programs and campaigns for community health and malaria control
Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Communication, Advocacy, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience in managing high-impact advocacy programs, ideally in the field of public health, with specific experience in Francophone Africa.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and French, with a proven ability to produce professional documents to international standards.
- Proficiency in computer tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as project management and online collaboration tools.
- Excellent team leadership skills to manage and motivate multicultural teams, as well as excellent adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects while respecting deadlines and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Strong partnership management skills and ability to interact with high-level leaders and decision-makers to influence policy and action in the healthcare field.
- Be flexible and able to work in a multicultural environment.
- Have a positive and dynamic attitude.
