When traditional medicine joins forces with modern medicine to defeat malaria

On Monday, September 1, 2025, the Djeleng District Medical Center in the Mifi district of the West Region was the scene of an unprecedented exchange. Under the leadership of the Moje Foundation, implementation partner of the Equité Accès Palu project, some twenty traditional healers gathered to reflect on their role and reaffirm their commitment to the fight against malaria.

Much more than a simple discussion, this meeting marked a symbolic turning point: the alliance between traditional knowledge and modern medicine to protect communities. Traditional healers, trusted figures in villages and neighborhoods, spoke to reiterate their willingness to relay prevention messages, encourage the use of impregnated mosquito nets, and raise awareness among families about the importance of seeking prompt medical attention in case of symptoms.

By drawing on the guardians of ancestral knowledge in the fight against malaria, ISA, through the Moje Foundation, is reinforcing a strong conviction: defeating malaria requires the commitment of everyone, each from their own sphere of influence.

The Mifi district is thus sending a strong message: the fight against malaria is a common cause, where every voice counts, whether it comes from hospitals, institutions… or traditions.

The slogan: “Together, for a malaria-free Cameroon.”
