On June 23, 2025, in Douggoi, Maroua 3 Health District, the very first training workshop was held on the use of social and behavior change communication (SBCC) tools developed through a co-creation process with communities.
Organized by Impact Santé Afrique, the civil society organization (CSO) CADELCO, and the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) as part of the Équité Accès Palu project, this session brought together religious leaders, civil society representatives, health system actors, and community stakeholders deeply committed to the fight against malaria.
At the heart of the discussions was the ownership of gender- and socially inclusive communication tools tailored to the social realities of the district. Among these tools were brochures, image boxes, and a song created by the artist ISNEBO. Participants worked together to identify the most effective ways to integrate these tools into local community dynamics.
At the end of the workshop, concrete commitments were made: mobilizing places of worship to disseminate prevention messages, creating health clubs within churches, and ensuring the active participation of civil society organizations in community activities and events.
In Maroua 3, collective action is taking shape driven by local strategies and community resources.
